ATHENA WIN Aspiring Leaders Program - Mentor Application

Are you an established leader with wisdom and experience to share? Has your journey included someone who helped you along the way? Are you seeking an opportunity to give back by guiding a new generation of women leaders? If so, apply to become a mentor in the 2024 ATHENA WIN’s Aspiring Leaders program!

As part of ATHENA WIN’s mission to advance women leaders in the Lansing region, this program will provide learning and development opportunities around crucial skill sets for emerging leaders, while being matched with an established leader mentor to provide additional support and connection.

As a mentor, your commitment includes:

Kickoff and Closing Events
Attend the in-person Kickoff Meeting on September 23rd and Closing Ceremony on April 7th.
One-on-One Mentorship
Meet with your mentee for one hour each month — in person or virtually — during October, November, January, and February.
Group Mentor Collaboration
Join two virtual calls with the full mentor group and program facilitator to share insights and provide updates (held in November and February).
Preparation and Support
Dedicate approximately 1–2 hours per month to prepare for discussions and support your mentee’s development journey.

What you’ll get:

A guided framework for success
Includes monthly topics, conversation prompts, and curated resources to support meaningful dialogue and growth.
A purposeful match
You’ll be thoughtfully paired with a mentee whose goals align with your professional background and leadership experience.
Public recognition
Be honored as an Aspiring Leader Mentor in ATHENA WIN’s newsletter, LRCC FOCUS Magazine, and during a special spotlight at the 2025 Evening of Empowerment in September.
The joy of giving back
Make a lasting impact by supporting an emerging leader — and living out the core ATHENA value of Giving Back.

Please note, to maintain an intimate and supportive environment, there are a limited number of spots in the program – so make sure to sign up as soon as possible. Additional information will be provided as the selection of Mentees/Mentors is finalized by mid-August.   If you have any questions, you can contact us here.

Acknowledgment

I understand that my attendance at the in-person Kick-Off Meeting and Closing Ceremony (Sept and April) is mandatory because my participation is essential to the program's success. I will meet monthly for one hour in person or virtually with my matched mentee for four months (Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb). I am prepared to spend one to two hours per month (approximate) preparation time for mentee meetings and development topics (provided by program facilitator).
