Learning to Love the Dandelions: Resilience in Life & Leadership
Monday, July 20, 2026 (8:30 AM - 9:45 AM) (EDT)
Description
“Learning to Love the Dandelions: Resilience in Life & Leadership” invites women to see the stubborn, unexpected moments of life not as weeds to be eradicated, but as wild, persistent signs of strength and possibility. In this talk, speaker and communications veteran Carrie Rathbun Hawks will get vulnerable as she shares her personal stories of surviving cancer and other health issues, mental health struggles, the impact of her mother's addiction, sexism, parenting, business challenges and reinvention, and explore what research teaches us about psychological resilience. She will unpack how women navigate leadership transitions, career pivots, the sandwich generation, health issues, ageism, parenting pressures and discrimination, and still show up with courage and heart.
This program invites women to rethink resilience not as perfection or endless endurance, but as the ability to adapt with courage, flexibility, self-compassion and support through life’s hardest seasons. Attendees will:
- Recognize the resilient patterns already present in their own stories.
- Learn simple, flexible strategies for responding to adversity in life and work.
- Understand how to practice self-compassion as a powerful leadership and resilience skill.
Participants will leave with renewed language for honoring their lived experience, and a deeper permission to lead as their whole, imperfect, powerful selves—dandelions and all.
There are two other sessions to pick from, including a July 20 Zoom. Information is provided on the registration page: https://rathbunpr.com/events-registration/
